The day after we got back from Texas me and my buddy headed up to Greers Ferry to do some pre fishing before the Tourney on the 17th Sat. We found some good places to fish but nothing with any real size to it, we caught a crap load of dinks though. Wednesday we went back to Greers Ferry and did some more pre fishing still caught a ton of dinks. Thursday we collectively decided not to go so we could get some honey doos taken care of before the weekend, the wife wasn't the most thrilled that I had been gone for over a week and hadn't spent any quality time with her, and she really wasn't happy when I told her we were leaving around 0500 Friday morning.
Friday we launched at Devils Fork and found a couple of more places to fish as a backup plan, we fished till 3 then pulled out and headed to the cabin.
Saturday morning we were at the launch at 0400hrs to start the registration for the fishing tourney. Around 0615 we blasted off and headed to our spot, in the first hour we had 5 keepers in the boat I was guessing somewhere around 10lbs is what we had. I had one black that was barely 15'' we needed a hefty 16'' to get us in the comfortable spot, so we picked up and moved to backup spot number 1 caught about 15 bass around the 14'' mark, we picked up and moved again to backup spot number 2 still a bunch of dinks, again picked up and went to backup spot number 3 still more dinks, I told my partner lets go back to our primary spot and see if we could land one over 16'' we get back to our primary spot and after about 30 minutes I finally caught one over 16'' I was like whew finally, I felt a little better about our bag, we fished till 2:30 then headed back to the launch, that was a mad house. We turned in our paint stick and loaded up the boat headed to the tournament center to weigh in. We weighted in with 10.19lbs my big bass weighted 2.73lbs we didn't have enough weight to get us in the money but were pretty close, oh well I had a great time.
Needless to say its been a busy two weeks for me, and I am definately ready for a break from fishing for a couple of days, I still feel like I'm on my boat.
