2010 Local 4544 Charity Tournament Sees Increase in Participants!!!

This year the event staff of the Local 4544 Tournaments took a different approach than they did in 2009. More sponsors + Huge Payout = 51 TEAMS! It all started in January with brochures ready to go out to local businesses. Online advertisement on www.get5bass.com seemed to get the attention of many fishermen. But the V.I.P sponsor goes to Jeremy Guenter and 105.1 The Wolf (Clear Channel Radio). Jeremy and his crew at Clear Channel pushed and pushed the information of this tournament out to thousands of listeners for nearly a whole month! Jeremy also starred, in person, as the guest weigh master this year! Also, I believe the $1000 guaranteed 1st place prize lured several of the participants to Devil’s Fork this year.
The event staff learned from the lessons of last year’s weather patterns and rented a cabin in the town of Greer’s Ferry. We couldn’t ask for any better weather this year. The evening before was spent swapping fishing and hunting stories with friends. Excitement was in the air due to the responses we have had about this tournament via phone calls and emails. We hoped for thirty teams.
April 17th 2010.
4:00 am: Early risers were waiting for the Event staff at the check-in area, a good sign of things to come. Check-in consisted of a few boats at first, not enough to get too excited about. By 5:00 am a line began to form. At 5:30 the line didn’t seem to have an end in sight. 5:45 am: Event staff runs out of entry forms (30) and begins to just take names down. 6:25 am: The final boat was registered and allowed to launch.
51 BOATS!
Due to popular demand this year’s weigh-in started at 3:00 pm at the same Devil’s Fork Fishing Tournament Center. We actually had enough teams to use the waiting pools provided at this great facility. 105.1 The Wolf and Power Curve Inc. were present to show their support for this year’s event. There is no doubt now that this tournament has grown. $1000 1st place, $500 Big Fish, 7 Places paid total and a large raffle. Also new this year, FREE FOOD! The Event staff grilled hot dogs and hamburgers at this year’s weigh-in, enough to go around to the over 100 people at the weigh-in.
Another note: All fish caught and weighed this year survived! 100% of the fish were released!!!! Great job participants!

Over $1250 Raised for Charity this year!
